The simplest way to remove Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office for Mac apps from your Mac is to delete the apps from your Applications folder using Finder. ![]() I've removed Office as a Required app and left it advertised in Company Portal for the time being. Since the installs bypass any user feedback active applications just shut down and are reinstalled. ![]() While the Office Suite is assigned as a Required application if this index is corrupted or in the process of regenerating (likely to happen after an OS update from perusing the Apple forums) I'm thinking that Intune believes the application is missing so launches an installer. From further research it appears that Intune uses the Spotlight index in MacOS as the detection method for application installs. After completing the steps, the Office suite available with your Microsoft 365 subscription will no longer be available on your device. Submit the research needed to complete the process. I believe I may have found a likely cause. Click on next to uninstall Microsoft 365 Office from your computer. Note that we are running some older Intel Macs alongside the M1s and are seeing the behavior pop up on both models. I did some more digging and I think I sussed it out. We're seeing the same issue and I opened a thread here about it. Last week, Microsoft announced a new AI feature, Microsoft 365 Copilot, that is supposed to help people create better productivity documents in Office apps. ![]()
